The development of a digital agro-industrial complex in Russia requires full coverage of agricultural areas by data transmission networks, as well as mass training of specialists with equal knowledge of IT and agriculture. It is likely that the departmental project ‘Digital Agriculture’ will be able to help in solving these problems, but there is no single view on the market of how the last document should look like yet.

These trends and barriers were identified by the Federal IT Forum of the Russian agro-industrial complex, ‘Smart Agro: Digital Transformation in Agriculture’, held on 8 October 2019 at the Hilton Garden Inn Moscow Krasnoselskaya Hotel.

During one of the sessions, participants presented practical cases of digital transformation in agriculture.

Thomas Dorenvendt, Director of the Seed Group of the AgroTerra Group of Companies, spoke about the use of in-depth analytical tools in optimizing production planning.

The event was attended by more than 200 representatives of large agricultural enterprises and corporations of the food industry, peasant farm economies / enterprises (PFE(E)s), regulatory authorities, government institutions and development funds, domestic developers of IT-solutions and software, telecommunications equipment and automation systems, telecom operators, application developers, system integrators, as well as business and industry media, analysts and industry experts.
